Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
An unpredictable disease of the central nervous system, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can range from relatively benign to devastating. The vast majority of patients are mildly affected, but in the worst cases MS can render a person unable to write, speak, or walk.
MS has a substantial genetic component. Because accurate and timely diagnosis of MS is needed for effective treatment, researchers at TGen are focused on developing a blood-based diagnostic for MS.
Investigators first used gene expression profiling to identify a diagnostic genetic signature for MS and they are currently working to further validate this diagnostic signature, which could also lead to new therapeutic options.
